Larry Orr has practiced in the area of civil defense for over thirty-six years. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Larry became a resident of Florence, South Carolina in 1947.
Larry attended the University of South Carolina earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965 and a Juris Doctor in 1973. While working towards his undergraduate degree, Larry earned the distinction of being selected as a member of Blue Key and Pi Mu Epsilon Honorary Math Society. In law school, Larry was recognized for his academic achievements by being designated as a member of the Wig and Robe and select as a member of the South Carolina Law Review.
Larry was admitted to the South Carolina Bar Association in 1973. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Larry is a member of the Florence County and American Bar Associations, the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Defense Research Institute and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served our community as Trustee of the Florence Public School District One from 1987 to 1996.
Kathy Price Elmore is a native of Florence, SC, where she graduated from South Florence High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1988. After graduating college, Kathy attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned her Juris Doctor in 1993. While in Law School, Kathy was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Order of Barristers. She also served as the Assistant Managing Editor of the Journal of Law and Education and as a prosecutor for the Student Honor Council. During law school, Kathy worked as a Law Clerk for the South Carolina Senate Committee for Banking and Insurance.
After graduating from law school, Kathy served as a Law Clerk for The Honorable William T. Howell, Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. Upon completing her clerkship, Kathy was selected to serve as an Assistant Solicitor with the York County Solicitor’s Office prosecuting General Session level felonies and misdemeanors under the Honorable Thomas E. Pope. After spending two years with the Solicitor’s office, she entered private practice as an associate attorney with Bridges, Orr, Derrick and Ervin in Florence, South Carolina, where her emphasis was in civil litigation defense. In 1998, Kathy became a sole practitioner expanding her practice areas.
In 2000, Kathy and Gena Phillips Ervin joined together to expand their sole practices which would eventually pave the way for the addition of Larry Orr and the formation of Orr, Elmore and Ervin, LLC.
Kathy has an expansive practice with concentration in the areas of Criminal, Civil and Domestic Litigation. Her Civil practice includes complex construction litigation, federal rights violations and state tort litigation. Her Criminal practice involves cases pending in the Federal Courts and State Courts of South Carolina. Kathy also has a tremendous amount of experience in working with children’s issues in Domestic Litigation and she has been very successful as a Guardian ad Litem.
Gena Phillips Ervin is a native of Gaffney, SC, but has called the Pee Dee home for over 20 years. Gena graduated from Clemson University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and graduated in 1985 with a Juris Doctor. Gena later earned a post graduate law degree in the area of Taxation from Emory University where she graduated with distinction.
With thirty years of experience in the area of probate law, Gena provides her clients with effective estate planning that includes Wills, Trusts and Living Directives. She handles Estate Administration in numerous counties in South Carolina.
Gena also serves her clients in the business arena, which includes business transactions, contract negotiating, corporate organizations and commercial real estate transactions.
